OTTAWA, Oct. 23 /CNW/ - Bridgewater Systems (TSX: BWC), a leader in subscriber management solutions for mobile service providers, today announced that it has been selected by four new customers in Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico and Chile to accelerate the launch of WiMAX mobile data services across the region.
"Our customers in Latin America are bringing WiMAX broadband Internet and Voice over IP services to consumers and businesses not served by traditional wireline access," said Jay McMullan, Americas Vice President for Bridgewater Systems. "More than 15 WiMAX service providers around the globe are deploying our subscriber management solutions to deliver personalized mobile services quickly and cost effectively."
Many countries are adopting WiMAX wireless broadband technology to deliver Internet services to consumers and small and medium businesses and facilitate rapid economic development. In Latin America, it is estimated that WiMAX subscribers will grow from 660,000 in 2007 to 13 million by 2012.(1)

XOHM WiMAX service is only launched in Baltimore but WiMAX enthusiasts are testing WiMAX in other cities like Boston and Washington DC where WiMAX is not officially launched.

Apparently there is limited coverage of wireless WiMAX in those other cities for testing purposes. Some of the WiMAX enthusiasts buy XOHM WiMAX services using a Baltimore address then they use the WiMAX services in the cities where WiMAX is still in the implementation phase.

This amount of interest could only be good news for the WiMAX service providers like XOHM and others.
